GetCapabilities MODIS (modis.map) This statement is used by clients to determine the server capabilities.
GetMap MODIS (modis.map) This statement is used by clients to request a map image of the data after assessing the server capabilities

ArcExplorer Web (WMS Test Interface):

(you may need to enable "pop-ups" in your browser for this site to work properly)

  1. Click the link above and choose the middle option
    "services from other Internet Servers."
    Then click "OK" or the button next to your choice.

  2. In "Map Server URL:" enter a link from above or one of these (be sure to include the "&"):

  4. Click "Ok"
  5. Select data layers of choice.

  6. Click "Add"
  7. Turn the service and layers on and click "refresh map" in the interface.

It should look something like this:

ArcGIS 9.x (ArcCatalog/ArcMap) WMS Connections:

  1. Open ArcCatalog
  2. Double Click on "Add WMS Service"
  3. Enter any of the following URLs:
  4. Click "Get Layers" to preview metadata, then click "Ok"
  5. The new connection will be added to your Catalog list. Double-click on it.
  6. Expand the connection and select the mapservice
  7. Click the "Preview" tab. It should look like this:
